Skaggs Community Health Center has signed on as the Presenting Sponsor of Branson’s Time Trial stage of the Tour of Missouri professional cycling event. The event is scheduled for September 11-16, 2007, starting in Kansas City and finishing six days later in St. Louis. The Tour of Missouri will stop in Branson on Thursday, September 13. The best professional cyclists from across America and several foreign countries will be challenged on Branson’s Ozark Mountains portion of the course.

“Skaggs’ commitment to the well-being of everyone in our community is evident in their sponsorship of this event. In addition to their sponsorship, Skaggs will host a health fair near the staging area at the start of the race and provide volunteer support during the course of the Time Trial,” said Ross Summers, President & CEO, Branson/Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce & CVB.

The Tour of Missouri is a 600-mile, six-day world-class bicycle race patterned after the Tour de Georgia and Amgen Tour of California. It is a race that features point-to-point racing. The race starts in Kansas City, September 11, and concludes September 16 in St. Louis, including legs to Clinton, Springfield, Branson, Lebanon, Columbia, Jefferson City, and St. Charles. The race will feature teams of eight from 15 of the world’s top professional cycling teams. It is the season-ending finale for many of the top teams and promises to be one of North America’s top events.

Branson could need as many as 300 volunteers, mostly for course marshal duties during the event on Thursday, September 13. There is a “Volunteer” link on the Tour of Missouri website (www.tourofmissouri.com) that allows for volunteers to fill out a participation form.
